Trip to Australia!

I'm taking a break from essays for a couple of weeks to spend time with friends in Australia! Sydney first; Brisbane and more next week :D

Sydney

Flying from Toronto through Vancouver, I arrived in Brisbane to be greeted by Michelle, whom I cyber-met in 2020 through my ukulele FB group.  She visited me in the US in June, so it’s my turn to return the visit.

Evidently 20 hours on an airplane wasn’t enough for me, because we hopped onto another one the next morning to go to Sydney to visit friends down there, too.

Here’s a little photo essay of the first few days of my trip.  More to come next week!

A picture of a sculpture carved out of whale bone
This spectacular whale-bone sculpture by Joe Nasogaluak in the Vancouver airport is breathtaking
A selfie of me with my friends, Annett and Michelle. We're all smiling, and there is a christmas village behind us.
I met up with my great long-time friend, Annett, who happened to be in Sydney at the same time I was. And bonus: I got to introduce her to my new friend, Michelle.

The tile work on the Sydney Opera House's roofs is gorgeous in and of itself

It turns out you can climb up and over the Sydney Harbor Bridge, but at almost $400, it was too (financially) steep for me.

Me hugging a giant tree in a park
Yep, I'm a tree hugger. But who can blame me with this beauty?

Till next week, take care —
